Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs car seats are the multifunctional, versatile companions of caregivers and parents. They are the co-pilots of your child's next adventure.

Safety

Newborns need to be secured to the greatest extent possible. A pram or stroller that has safety features will keep your baby safe and comfortable during travel. The most essential requirements for any pram or stroller are a functioning brake, a five-point safety harness (2 shoulder straps, 2 waist straps and the Crotch strap) and an adjustable wrist tether strap for the person pushing the pram. Verify that the stroller you choose meets these standards.

Look for a pram that allows your baby to ride in the recommended lying flat position. This position supports the baby and helps prevent an unintentionally dangerous curve in the spine which can lead to spinal problems. By keeping the airways open, it lowers the chance of SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams that can be used from birth will include the seat unit, which will recline to a lay-flat pram mode for babies younger than the age of one and convert into a pushchair seat unit for older children.

The suspension on a pram is important because it affects how smooth the ride is. A pram that has lots of spring suspension will cost more, but it is worth the extra expense if you plan to use your pram each for a while or more.

If you're looking for an appropriate travel system, be sure the frame is compatible with the car capsule you've chosen and this will prevent you having to wake them up when changing between car, pram and back again.

Convenience

It is important to take into account the needs of your baby's transportation when purchasing a baby pram. Some prams have a bassinet, carrycot or a seat that can recline to a flat position. This is important for your baby's development of the spine and breathing. It is important to check what other accessories are included in the pram, such as a footmuff and changing bag.
